- Wildwood has it's own Monastary
- Wildwood was once the home of the Numerous gold mines which were a rich producers of gold. Harrison Gulch got its name from W.R. Harrison a mine owner who, in 1850, became the first judge of Shasta County.
- In 1894, L. Benton discovered gold there, and shortly thereafter formed a huge mining company. Soon the tiny town of Knob boomed to around 1,500 people.
